Heart Shaped Rice Krispie Valentine treats are so quick and easy to make. The perfect marshmallow crispy heart-shaped treat. Perfect if you are looking for some Valentine's day inspiration or, as a cute little homemade food gift.
They have that perfect crispy crunch combined with together with sweet chewy marshmallows and drizzled with silky white chocolate. This Rice Krispie Valentine treats recipe doesn't require a lot of kitchen tools or baking skills. As always I made them gluten free!
It's so easy which makes it a perfect little recipe to do at home with the kids. Believe me, the kids will love this as it has the perfect combination of gooey melted marshmallows and sweet silky melted chocolate and they can get fully involved with mixing and have fun with their favorite cookie cutter shapes.

Are Rice Krispies gluten free
Kelloggs Rice Krispies are made with malt from Barley which may contain gluten and therefore not gluten-free. Although there are many brands that have gluten-free rice Krispy's that are safe. Some store brands may be gluten free but I advise you to always check the label to be sure that they do not have any gluten-containing ingredients.

- Marshmallows - Melting the marshmallows create that delicious chewy texture and bind all the rice Krispies together to help keep their shape.
- Rice Krispies Cereal - I used Nestle Gofree rice pops to make the Rice Krispy treats gluten free but you can use your preferred brand.
- Vanilla extract - Adds additional flavor to the treats.
- White Chocolate - I love white chocolate but any chocolate will work well if you prefer dark chocolate or milk chocolate. If you prefer you can substitute the chocolate for candy melts.
- Food coloring & Sprinkles - Optional

⚡ Substitutions & Variations
- Themed Krispy treats - Use different-shaped cookie cutters for your desired look or theme. I have also made Easter Rice Krispie treats and I like to use a Christmas tree cutter and decorate with colorful chocolate and sprinkles for Christmas treats.
- Chocolate covered treats - If preferred you could pour melted chocolate over the front of your treats if you like that all-chocolate look and taste.
- Candy melts - I love using candy melts when making my gluten free cake pops but you can also Substitute the chocolate for your preferred candy melts when making Krispy treats.
🥣 Step by Step Instructions
Below is a brief step-by-step process with photos of how to make Heart shaped Rice Krispy treats. See the recipe card below for more detailed recipe instructions.
Step 1: Slowly melt Butter and Marshmallows in a nonstick pan over medium heat. Stirring continually to ensure it doesn't stick to the bottom of the pan.
Step 2: Once the marshmallows have fully melted add in the vanilla extract.
Step 3: In a large bowl carefully pour the melted marshmallow mixture into the Rice Krispies.
Step 4: Gently mix together until the Rice Krispies are fully coated with the melted marshmallows.
Step 5: Place the rice Krispy mix into your prepared baking sheet and pat until compact together roughly 2 cm thick and leave to set.
Step 6: Once the Rice Krispies have fully set use the cookie cutter and press firmly to get your desired size treats.
Melt chocolate in the microwave in a small bowl. You can drizzle it with chocolate or dip the treats in chocolate. Then decorate the treats as desired with your favorite sprinkles.

- Baking sheet lined with greaseproof paper
Ingredients
- 200 grams Marshmallows
- 100 grams Rice Krispies Gluten free - I used Nestlé GoFree Rice Pops Cereal.
- 50 grams Butter
- ½ teaspoon Vanilla extract
- 50 grams White Chocolate You can use your preferred amount of chocolate.
- Sprinkles Optional - Be sure to check that the sprinkles are gluten free.
- Food coloring Optional
