How to make Gluten free Easter Krispy Bars
Making them gluten free was so easy. I used gluten free rice krispy cereal and KitKat milk chocolate bunnies which are also gluten free. I always check my ingredients don't contain gluten to ensure that it is safe to eat. Cutting them into individual squares make for the perfect treat. Perfect for Easter food gifts, lunch box idea's or party treats.
This recipe doesn't require a lot of kitchen tools, special equipment or baking skills. I melted my marshmallows in a non stick pan but you could alternatively melt them in the microwave if you prefer.
Its so easy its a perfect little recipe to do at home with the kids. Believe me the kids will love this as it has the perfect combination of gooey melted marshmallows and silky sweet melted chocolate and they can get involved with mixing, decorating and using their favorite cookie cutter shapes. Equipment used
No special equipment is required for this recipe. I used an 8x8 baking tin but you could use your preferred tin that you have in your kitchen cupboard.
Notes:
NOTE: Always check that all your ingredients are gluten free. Some cake decorations and chocolate may contain gluten. At the time of writing this recipe I used gluten free rice crispy cereal and KitKat milk chocolate bunnies which don't contain gluten but I advise to always check ingredients to be sure.
STORAGE: This can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for you to enjoy for up to 5 days.
IDEAS: You can make these treats plain without the drizzled chocolate or add more chocolate. This also works well with milk chocolate. I added food coloring to the white chocolate to give it a Easter theme but if you don't have food coloring you could leave that step out or alternatively use your preferred colors to suit your theme.
If preferred you could pour melted chocolate over the top of the Krispy treats if you want a brighter more colourful chocolaty treat.
Making Themed Krispy Bars
Using cookie shape cutters could also give your treats a fun look or theme. Thats the great thing about this recipe it can be easily adapted for any holiday by switching out the themed decorations or using cookie cutters. at Christmas time i like to use tree shaped cutters and Valentines day heart shaped cutters.
