I'm always on the lookout for places that have gluten free options. If you are here then I can only assume that you too require gluten-free meals when eating out. My recent visit was to Nando's. So if you are wondering what's gluten free at Nando's and do they have a gluten free allergy menu then you have come to the right place.
Nando's restaurant was founded in Johannesburg, South Africa 1987 specializing in Portuguese style Peri peri chicken dishes. They now boast to have restaurants in over 20 countries across the world. You can read more about their story and values on the website.

Nando's gluten free menu
Nando's doesn't provide a dedicated gluten free menu but many items on the menu are labeled gluten free. Always advise your server before you order that you require a gluten-free meal.
Nandos states on the website "We don't have any gluten-free restaurants at Nando's and we use a lot of bread in the various burgers and wraps we sell- but don't worry, we can take precautions to minimise any gluten contamination! Our manager on duty will always be happy to discuss this with you when you order. "

What are they doing to reduce cross-contamination?
- Having an allocated server - On my visit to Nando's the restaurant manager took my order and reviewed the menu with me.
- Kitchen staff was made aware of my needs.
- Kitchen staff changed gloves and prepared my meal separately - Although I was advised that they cannot guarantee 100% gluten free as they do prepare foods that contain gluten in the same kitchen.
- Allergy Food label - When my food arrived it had a small allergy flag.

Gluten free Nando's review
Nando's is making an effort to try and accommodate the gluten-free community. Although there is always a risk of cross-contamination it's great to see them put the steps in place to try and make it as safe as they can for anyone following a gluten free diet. I felt comfortable during my visit and confident that care was taken when my meal was prepared.
